Stainless Steel Compression Springs
SPEC® Stainless Steel Compression Springs
Associated Spring RAYMOND manufactures SPEC® stock compression springs, a type of mechanical wire spring that squeezes together to create a load, which means the spring gets shorter as the load is applied to it. Compared to other types of springs, compression springs are considered the most efficient energy storage device.
Our stock compression springs are offered in a variety of materials, including stainless steel. Stainless steel is a material family that has additional chromium content, relative to steel, that provides additional corrosion protection. Different grades of stainless steel provide different properties and must be selected to match the application. Our team is happy to assist you in finding the right stainless steel for your application.
Benefits of Stainless Steel Compression Springs
Stainless steel is a popular choice of material for compression springs, and for good reason. There are many benefits associated with stainless steel, including:
- Corrosion resistance
- Harsh chemicals, acids
- Ability to perform in high temperatures
- Stain resistance
- Sleek appearance
- Easy to clean
- Significant strength-to-weight ratio
- Ideal for high temperature and moist environments
- Long-term value
Austenitic Stainless Steel
Our stainless steel compression springs are made with 300 series austenitic stainless steel, which is the most widely used grade of stainless steel. Austenitic steels contain chromium, nickel and low levels of carbon. They are non-magnetic and are not heat treatable.
Types of Stainless Steel Material
- 301, 302 or 304 per DIN 17224, EN 10270-3, JIS G4314 SUS 302/304, AMS 5688
