ASRaymond’s SPEC® Wave Spring Washers provide a thrust load and absorb vibration in applications with very limited axial space. Stamped from flat-rolled steel sheets, these pre-engineered Wave Spring Washers are stamped complete, or wound on edge, with a small gap of overlap of the strip.
Typical applications for Wave Springs are in rotating mechanisms. They eliminate “play” (or excessive space) on bearings supporting a shaft. Wave Spring Washers also accommodate thermal expansion and contraction without introducing play in the design. Applications include pre-loading bearings to prevent slop or backlash in assemblies. Motors, gearboxes or speed-reducers, and connectors are all examples of typical devices that use Wave Spring Washers in this way. They are available in both carbon and stainless steel and are supplied with a plain finish. A common application for Overlap Wave Spring Washers is placement adjacent to smaller bearings, where shaft take-up or thermal expansion and contraction accommodation is required. They are available in stainless steel and carbon steel.
